I was looking for a lightweight alternative to the traditional BBQ to take away in our camper and the Gasmate Travelmate II is exactly that. I haven’t used it yet but it seems cleverly compact and well designed and I’m confident it will do the job expected of it by us. The only negative and the reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 is the hot plate is not an easy “drop on” fit. It seems to not quite fit the locating lugs exactly and took several frustrating attempts to get it to lock on. Even when fitted, it doesn’t feel positive. I’m hopeful it will settle in with use, or a bit of gently applied modification. Other than this, which may prove to be a deal breaker, I’m happy with my purchase.

This kit is amazing. There is a reason it was in use so long. I have owned two of these. Bought the second as someone stole my first one because it was so good. Don't lend it out to a mate! Highly durable and stainless steel, not aluminium which is major in my purchasing decision. Great for packing something you want protected with a hard shell as you hike. Maybe just sit and eat from it as you are sitting on the couch watching a Band of Brothers marathon. You will only find used, poor condition of one's in surplus stores in NZ. Treat yourself to this brand new one.
